Loren A. Piel, established Piel Law Firm in 2003 to provide common sense legal advice for individuals and small business owners.  Loren viewed his role as a counselor offering practical approaches to reach the client's goals while containing costs and managing risks.

In June 2005, Shell L. Mercer joined the firm and we changed our name to Mercer & Piel Ltd. 

The Firm enjoys a broad-based practice including both litigation and transactional legal work.  Our litigation practice includes insurance defense, personal injury, family law and commercial litigation.  Our transactional practice includes real estate development, general contract and business law, estate planning and business organization.  A significant part of our practice is devoted to meeting the needs of entrepreneurs by assisting in establishing new ventures.
